I don’t know what others’ “significant others” you are talking about, but it is none of my concern. What I express are my views, not those of others, as Sahmir’s is his. I suggest again that deciding on the objective facts, and rendering judgements based thereon is a better method than watching which direction the wind is blowing.

Leaving aside a view on a political history being described in terms of “pop culture”, are we deciding on the truth based on the dictates of “our pop culture” now? And who is “we”? Shamir is an Israeli intellectual and his writings can be found at http://www.israelshamir.net. If you are suggesting that I brainwashed him, I take it as a compliment.

If Shamir is claiming that hundreds of thousands of Armenians did not perish in the Trageedy, I am with you. However, I checked the article again but failed to see such argument. Are you sure you are referring to this article?

I think there are two arguments in this. One being Armenian issue, the other one is who wrote this article.

About the Armenian issue Turkish State’s position is known and no other significant others support that line. They either oppose to that or does not comment.
Where I stand on this issue is; obviously I do not support Turkish State’s official position. Hundreds of thousands of human beings perished and responsibility lies with the GOVERNMENT AT THE TIME. However I do not believe that it was a “Genocide” either. If it was, there would not be an Armenian left in Anatolia.
This is a classical argument ongoing all over. I do not see a point in discussing this.

However, the second argument is; who wrote this article?
The writer’s comments and motives are so unique to our pop culture, I can hardly believe that someone brewed out of this culture can put together an article like this.
That’s what I dont buy.

Since you kept us in the dark as to what parts of Israel’s views you disagree with and on what grounds, I will not engage in specualations.

Shamir has been accused of a lot of things, most cjaracteristic one being his “anti-establishmment” views, I am certain carrying the “state line” is not one of them. I am not sure what you have in mind with “global mind” , but a Jew paying a huge price going against Israel and the international Jewish establishment speaks for itself, in that respect as well.

Haydar Bey, I humbly suggest employng your conscience and adherence to the truth wherewer the may lie is a better guide than playing “whose line it is anyway” in determining positions on issues.

PS: The last time I checked Israel is not living in Turkey, nor has he ever, save a couple of short visits.
